Dan Sullivan volunteered for us to have a look at the studio side microwave dish on Sunday March 7. He found that it had fallen onto the roof due to the pole that was mounted from below coming loose from its moorings – so much for wondering what the problem was. The dish acts as a ‘sail’ and the wind force on it put too much stress on the mountings to the building framing – time to call the roofer to repair. Dan was able to ‘aim’ the dish to some degree from inside of the attic crawlspace making the signal much better (about the same as it was on Hersey St).

The following Monday (the next day), Andy Robinson from Robinson’s Roofing came with one of his employees to fix the mounting. He fixed the problem, and we tried to aim the dish to some degree, but it still needed some fine tuning.

The following Saturday, Dan came back and re-aimed the dish from the roof of the studio. He was able to make a good improvement of 15 dBm, which is a factor of approximately 30 in microwave power delivered. The overall improvement in microwave power delivered from the time the signal was dropping out, to now, is approximately a factor of 1000.
